Oh my, I've been wanting to write a blog post for ages, but I could only find time during the long weekend. Life's so hectic that even writing a simple blog post feels like a luxury.
Recently, I've had the privilege of receiving invitations to speak at lectures, contribute to projects, and serve on a judging panel.
After a lecture, a teacher expressed their fear, saying,
'My students might laugh at my imperfect English. How can I possibly speak?'
I just smiled and replied, 'Well, tell them to try it themselves!'
I believe the teacher-student relationship should be one of mutual support
Among all the education books I've read, I particularly admire those on Nordic education.
Combining that with my Western critical thinking education, I truly believe it's best to let students shine in a classroom.
I told this teacher:
'If it were me, I'd say, "Yes, there are indeed English phrases I don't know, which is why I want to learn with you. You can share how you learn, or even teach the whole class how to say it. I'm thrilled to learn new things together with you!'
That's the educational philosophy I deeply respect.
