https://www.reddit.com/r/london/comments/4dcacx/23000_enough_to_survive_and_live_okay_in_london/?rdt=36932

I recently had a job interview in the bustling city, London. It was a job opportunity working as a Chinese teacher at a bilingual kindergarten. The offered salary was £23,000 per year, which converts to a substantial 905,733.46 in my currency, according to today's exchange rate. At first glance, it seems like a good deal, doesn't it?

However, London is notorious for its high living costs, particularly when it comes to rent. I heard that the average monthly rent in London can easily reach £1,400. To make it more affordable, you might have to consider sharing an apartment with someone, splitting the cost. That translates to a whopping 55,141.44 per month in my currency. It's mind-boggling how expensive it can be!

In fact, finding a place to live in London that costs less than 30,000 to 40,000 Taiwan dollars per month can be quite a challenge. It's the reality of London's price tag.

During my stay in London, I couldn't help but miss some of my favorite low-cost supermarkets like Lidl, Aldi, and Asda, which are not as common there.

Interestingly, during the social walk as mentioned in the last blog, I had the pleasure of meeting a fellow nursery school teacher from Turkey who was earning £25,000. This experience showed me that while London may be expensive, it's not impossible to live there with a low salary.

I also came across an enlightening article on Reddit that discussed whether a £23,000 salary is enough to survive and live comfortably in London. It shed light on the challenges and realities of living in the city.

So, it all boils down to a dilemma. Do you choose to endure the challenges and immerse yourself in the local London experience, or do you opt for the comfort of your home country with more reasonable living expenses?

Armed with a prestigious UK degree, I eventually returned to Taiwan and began my job search. While awaiting this London, I took the opportunity to visit the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and spent a few days exploring London. My journey back home took me on a direct flight from Prague on China Airlines, but I still have more to share about my Prague trip in future updates.

Lately, I've been a bit out of touch with my blogging, Instagram, Facebook fan page, and podcasting. However, I'm eager and ready to get back into the swing of things and continue sharing my adventures with you!
